CONOSTAN® History
CONOSTAN® is the global technology leader, manufacturer and marketer of metallo-organic standards in oil. This position derives from historical roots tracing back over 30 years as an outgrowth of the needs of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program Standards Committee to analyze metals in lubricating oils and to conduct wear metals analysis programs. CONOSTAN® discovered and commercialized metals in oil standards to meet the DOD requirements for reliability and stability for calibrating spectrometers.
Our R&D department discovered and developed the chemistry for producing element in oil standards that are optimized for:
- Element compatibility for multi-element compositions
- Solubility in very low volatile base oils
- Viscosity requirements for standards
- Instrumental response
- Shelf life of standards
